Design and manufacturing details:
These converging-diverging nozzles are assembled along the steam turbine casing in a circumferential configuration. Their orientation in assembly necessitates a complex external angular geometry of the part. The internal passage regulates the vectored flow of steam onto the first row of blades on the rotor.
These nozzles were precision manufactured for perfect fit and have effectively increased the work output from 450KW to 600KW. Due to higher extraction of juice from the same input of cane, the production went up considerably. (Season 1999-2000).
